Elian Haan - Wellness Coach/Yoga, Tai Chi, Mediation Program Director/Fitness Presenter - Episode 105

Two Fit Crazies & A Microphone

Episode 105   Elian Haan - Wellness Coach/Yoga, Tai Chi, Mediation Program Director/Fitness Presenter

“... I bring the mind, body, and spirit to make people understand that they don’t need to take something, but do something.”  -Elian Haan

In Episode 105, the Two Fit Crazies welcomed a beautiful soul by the name of Elian Haan. Joining the show from Dallas, Texas, although originally from the Netherlands, Elian shares her amazing story of how her love for dance, movement, and fitness lead her to overcome some of the most difficult moments in her life. After attending a dance academy in Amsterdam as a child and later earning a degree in Art/Theatre History from the University of Amsterdam, Elian shares how her love for movement led her to seek a career in dance. Elian talks about the impact that fitness icons such as Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons inspired her to become certified to teach  fitness, but as Elian delves into her own journey of self-discovery, she discusses how  losing both of her parents and moving to the U.S. for an short-lived marriage, lead  her to “hit rock bottom.” Surprisingly, there was a time when all that Elian owned was what she carried in her backpack and the “things” she took to mask her pain.  Elian reveals how her love for fitness saved her life and inspired her to create Better Body Basics, her fitness studio, outside of Dallas, Texas. In addition, Elian now serves as a teacher at the Addiction Campus of America where she infuses mindful and movement practices to patients who are fighting to overcome addiction. The former SCW Fitness Presenter of the Year, we welcome Elian Haan to the Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone Podcast.  Be ready to be inspired!

Roberta Groner - World Class Runner/Full Time Nurse/Mother of Three - Episode 96

Two Fit Crazies & A Microphone Podcast

Episode 96 – Roberta Groner – World Class Runner – Full Time Nurse – Mother of 3

In Episode 96 the Fit Crazies have the honor of rapping with the ridiculously fast and remarkably humble Super Mom, Roberta Groner, age 41, of Randolph, NJ. Literally, just 2 hours off the plane home, Roberta gives us the low down on her phenomenal, news making 2:29:06, 5th place performance against a world class field at the Rotterdam Marathon.

To put it simply, Roberta has a story for the ages. After competitive high school and, albeit shortened, collegiate careers, running went away. Roberta spent the next decade building her career in nursing and starting a family. But a flame was rekindled after joining some office cohorts and running the Pittsburg Half Marathon just 10 years ago. This led to a marathon in Chicago and an impressive 3-hour 12-minute (3:12) debut. But she was just getting started, a Sub 3 hour run in her second marathon was followed by races in the 2:40’s and then a true burst onto the scene with her 2:37 victory at the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon in 2016. Just Flying!!!!

All of this, along with a 2:30:38, 3rd place finish at the California International Marathon in 2017 has stamped Roberta’s place among the nation’s and world’s elites.

In fact, we’d bet that if the 41-year-old, full time nurse, divorced mother of three had rubbed a lamp and was granted running wishes, Roberta probably would have sold herself short in what she wished for.

What’s it like to run a 2:29 and an IAAF/Olympic Standard?

At 41 years of age, while still working full time and a divorced mother of three, how does she fit it all in?

What are the differences in training blocks as she continues to grow as a runner?

What is it like working with a new coach in Steve Magness?

Do her boys know how cool their mom is?

What are her nutrition and recovery routines like?

What is her advice for and/or secret to success?

And most importantly; What’s Next???? #KFG

Whatever your role in athletics or fitness or life, Roberta’s story is not to be missed!

Get Your Inspiration Here, In Episode 96!

In Episode 89, the Two Fit Crazies had a blast with Chandler Walker who “ZOOMed” in from a very cold and windy Reno, Nevada. Chandler, the mastermind behind “Chanslogic,” the founder of Stone Age Fuel, and the creator of Culture of Care, shares his amazing story of how growing up with 5 sisters and a degree in biochemistry and microbiology lead him to be a self-proclaimed “Health Detective.” In college, Chandler made startling discoveries about what was “really” in the supplements being offered to the public and traveled the nation giving seminars revealing the truth behind the labels. Chandler, now compelled to educate the masses, created his 5 Pillars of health to help his largely female-based clientele take action and take control of their lives. Colin joined us live from Swalmen in the Netherlands to share his story and perspective about the current state of health and fitness. Colin, a very successful transformational coach and owner of Beyond Social Conditioning, first became interested in learning about successful habits and improving “the self” while reading self-help books as a teenager. In this episode, Colin revealed his own “secrets to success” by going “beyond social conditioning” with each of his clients. He asks them to reflect deeply about their life through analyzing their movement, health, mindset, and more.  While Colin speaks about the current state of fitness and health in the Netherlands and the U.K., his messages about the importance of laughing, smiling, and happiness, are universal!

Valentine's Day - Yay or Nay? – The Two Fit Crazies Weigh In - Episode 82

Episode 82 - Valentine's Day - Yay or Nay? – The Two Fit Crazies Weigh In

As you’ll hear in Episode 82, the Two Fit Crazies have differing opinions on Valentine’s Day.  And so, we did one of our Pop-Up podcasts to get it off our chests. Unfortunately, this rare disagreement between the dynamic duo has left the show in an awkward limbo of sorts. So, they want to hear from you. Valentine’s Day – Yay or Nay?

Responses may (or may not – do you actually think we know what we are doing?) be heard on our airwaves in a future Pop-Up show. Let your Voices Be Heard! @ us brothers and sisters!

 Yay or Nay???!!!!!

 With Love (Everyday),

Christine and Brian

Bart Yasso - The Mayor of Running - Episode 81

Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone

Episode 81 – Bart Yasso - The Mayor of Running

“Never limit where running can take you.” Bart Yasso

In Episode 81, the Two Fit Crazies had the honor of speaking with the great Bart Yasso. Affectionately known as the “Mayor of Running”, Bart goes deep into his journey and life in running. Recently retired after 21 years at Runner’s World where he held the title of Chief Running Officer, Bart takes us from his first run in “cutoff jeans and a Budweiser t-shirt” to the “world’s toughest footrace” through Death Valley to a 5k in a nudist colony. And an interview with Bart would never be complete without getting the lowdown on the famous workout created by and named for him – the Yasso 800s, stating that “There isn’t a day that someone doesn’t mention Yasso 800’s.”

Bart is an incredibly genuine person with a passion for running and life. It felt like we were old friends catching up after some time apart. An inspiration to all that cross his path, we hope that you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

Yours in Fitness (and running),

Brian and Christine – The Two Fit Crazies

Tricia Silverman RD, LDN, MBA, Wellness Educator, Nutrition Speaker - Episode 79

Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone Podcast

Episode 79: Tricia Silverman RD, LDN, MBA, Wellness Educator, Nutrition Speaker

Tricia Silverman Wellness – Owner, Wellness Coach, Fitness Instructor, Employee Wellness

Northeastern University: Professor, Published Author

“If it grows in the ground, Falls from the tree, Swims in the sea…” -Tricia Silverman (nutrition advice learned from her grandfather)

In Episode 79, the Two Fit Crazies attempt to uncover “THE SECRET” to optimal health and longevity with Tricia Silverman, a nationally recognized health and wellness presenter and educator. Tricia recalls nutrition advice from her grandfather about the importance of eating “REAL FOOD” from the ground, not from a lab. Everything from the “actual” ingredients in your food, to her latest lecture, Food Deconstructed, is sure make you question the ingredients in your next meal. For example, what the heck is Xanthan Gum? Why are certain ingredients in our foods illegal in other countries? How do I know what foods are “healthy?” Tricia Silverman discusses the importance of educating oneself on ALL the current research such as the global longevity factors, a personal favorite of the Two Fit Crazies. We are talking “BLUE ZONES!” These are the areas on the globe with the most Centenarians, or people living to 100 or greater. The research speaks for itself! These people eat a mostly plant-based diet, engage in an active lifestyle, and have a positive mindset. The Two Fit Crazies had a blast with Tricia Silverman! Let’s get back to basics when it comes to nutrition! This episode may just change, or save, your life!

Be sure to keep your eye out for Tricia’s Book Release in Spring 2019

Enjoy!
