Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone Podcast

Episode 125 – Pop-Up Podcast – All Hail Roberta Groner, All American Bad Ass!

The Two Fit Crazies were so moved by the performance of American distance runner, friend and past guest of the show, Roberta Groner at the 2019 IAAF World Championships Women’s Marathon that they got together for a Pop-Up podcast to praise her in all her greatness.

Being held in Doha, Qatar, the World Championships provided the ultimate backdrop for the Full Time Nurse, mother of 3, 41-year-old, blue color All American/All World Bad Ass to show the world her amazingness and toughness. With temperatures in the 90’s, “feels like” temps in the 100’s with 70% humidity, Roberta persevered the elements, running patiently, working her way to a 2:38:44 6th place finish.

That’s Right! 6th IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!

After a performance so amazing that it brought us to tears, the Two Fit Crazies just had to stop and pay homage to Roberta on her incredible performance, in unbearable conditions, on the World’s biggest stage. ALL HAIL ROBERTA GRONER – ALL AMERICAN/ALL WORLD BAD ASS!!!!!!!!

#KFG Roberta!

Joel Matalon - RUNhabX - Episode 122

Two Fit Crazies & A Microphone Podcast

Episode 122 - Joel Matalon - RUNhabX- Owner, JoeFitnessWorld Coaching-Training-Living, CEO Chi Running/Chi Walking, Master & Director of Continuing Education ACE, Faculty Member

“Run happy instead of running hard...run with feeling...moving in all planes …to be a better person in any situation…” -Joel Matalon

In Episode 122, the Two Fit Crazies enjoyed an awesome conversation with Chi Running master, Joel Matalon. Joel is fascinated with the “WHY” behind running. As a young scrawny boy (his words, not ours) growing up in Queens, Joel recalls some very vivid memories about how running saved him from getting beat up by gang members and even enduring abuse by an unsuspecting adult figure in his life. However, Joel also shares the fact that he really didn’t start running until his dad promised him a soda if he ran around the block five times. Let’s just say that Joel REALLY liked soda and his dad always kept his promise! Joel discusses the ways in which he is now able to share his passion for running throughout the U.S. as a Master Chi Running/Walking Educator and how his expertise and experience is coveted by many who wish to hire him as a running coach. Presenting at major conferences around the world is in Joel’s plans as well as launching his newest venture called, The FitNantial Group. Joel is determined to help fellow fitness professionals control their fitness and finances to ensure they are making the best investments for their future!

Joel Matalon is “where it’s at” on Episode 122! Enjoy!

“Kenyans have an intense desire to be good...they try to become the best in the world...this is their way out of poverty...great runners are celebrities there...”   -Dr. Jason Karp

In Episode 110, the Two Fit Crazies welcomed back Dr. Jason Karp to the show for the third time! Obviously, the Fit Crazies love speaking with the incredibly intelligent Dr. Karp about the latest developments in exercise science to improve all aspects of running. This time, Dr. Karp speaks about his newest endeavors such as: enrolling in  an MBO program at San Diego State, coaching an elite team of Rev02lution Running  athletes from around the globe, writing another book about how physical activity,  specifically running, affects sexual behavior, and creating a Run-Fit Kenyan running  camp after his experience training at the High Altitude Training Camp in Iten, Kenya.  Needless to say, whether you are an avid runner or just looking for ways to improve your health and fitness through walking or running, Dr. Jason Karp dishes out all the science about how running WILL improve your life. This episode will not disappoint!  Brian and I have a great time learning about the benefits of “more sex” in relation to  improved athletic performance (we try so hard to be mature about this) and Dr. Karp  delves into what he learned from running with the Kenyans and submerging himself in  their culture. Get certified as a REV02LUTION Running coach or learn more about attending his Kenyan Running Camp at www.run-fit.com or www.REV02lutionrunning.com

Roberta Groner - World Class Runner/Full Time Nurse/Mother of Three - Episode 96

Two Fit Crazies & A Microphone Podcast

Episode 96 – Roberta Groner – World Class Runner – Full Time Nurse – Mother of 3

In Episode 96 the Fit Crazies have the honor of rapping with the ridiculously fast and remarkably humble Super Mom, Roberta Groner, age 41, of Randolph, NJ. Literally, just 2 hours off the plane home, Roberta gives us the low down on her phenomenal, news making 2:29:06, 5th place performance against a world class field at the Rotterdam Marathon.

To put it simply, Roberta has a story for the ages. After competitive high school and, albeit shortened, collegiate careers, running went away. Roberta spent the next decade building her career in nursing and starting a family. But a flame was rekindled after joining some office cohorts and running the Pittsburg Half Marathon just 10 years ago. This led to a marathon in Chicago and an impressive 3-hour 12-minute (3:12) debut. But she was just getting started, a Sub 3 hour run in her second marathon was followed by races in the 2:40’s and then a true burst onto the scene with her 2:37 victory at the Mohawk Hudson River Marathon in 2016. Just Flying!!!!

All of this, along with a 2:30:38, 3rd place finish at the California International Marathon in 2017 has stamped Roberta’s place among the nation’s and world’s elites.

In fact, we’d bet that if the 41-year-old, full time nurse, divorced mother of three had rubbed a lamp and was granted running wishes, Roberta probably would have sold herself short in what she wished for.

What’s it like to run a 2:29 and an IAAF/Olympic Standard?

At 41 years of age, while still working full time and a divorced mother of three, how does she fit it all in?

What are the differences in training blocks as she continues to grow as a runner?

What is it like working with a new coach in Steve Magness?

Do her boys know how cool their mom is?

What are her nutrition and recovery routines like?

What is her advice for and/or secret to success?

And most importantly; What’s Next???? #KFG

Whatever your role in athletics or fitness or life, Roberta’s story is not to be missed!
