Sheera Goren, Co-Founder & CEO of Zygo - Episode 109

Two Fit Crazies & A Microphone

Episode 109 - Sheera Goren, Co-Founder & CEO of ZYGO

“...be SWIMSPIRED!”

“...I wanted to create the Peloton of swimming!”

“...we are dealing with a passionate population.”  -Sheera Goren

In Episode 109, the Two Fit Crazies are WOWED by Sheera Goren, the co-founder and CEO of Zygo, the first wireless headset for underwater streaming audio and live coaching. Whether you are a swimmer or non-swimmer, Zygo is going to revolutionize all water sports with its ability to transmit sound through a specific frequency that penetrates water. Swim coaches can instruct swimmers mid-stroke while surfers, stand-up paddle boarders, crew teams, can receive real-time coaching. Sheera reveals how her past experiences playing soccer at the University of Michigan, attending law school at UCLA, and working in the world of hospitality law all lead her to the creation of Zygo. As a non-swimmer who wanted to dabble in the world of triathlon, like Fit Crazie Christine, she was lost when it came to finding the right training groups to learn to swim. Sheera talked about how she created her own swim groups rather than attend intimidating Masters groups or take water aerobics classes with “older” populations. She further explains how she wanted to create “the Peloton for swimming” with Zygo and give people the ability to listen to podcasts and music as well as receive live and recorded coaching. “Rugby is the fastest growing team sport in the country.”

Under the auspices of USA RUGBY, they are spearheading RUGBY New Jersey youth programs across the state. As the fastest growing team sport in the country, Rugby is not the rough, contact sport that is only for extreme athletes that people have been misled to believe. Terry and KJ talk about the ethos of Rugby and the awesome benefits that youth Rugby programs bring to not only kids, but also their parents. KJ and Terry discuss the emphasis that Rugby places on player accountability, the commitment that is expected both on and off the field, and the responsibility to values and character above all else. Did you know that all youth Rugby leagues, whether flag or contact, consist of a post-game meal provided by the home team so that players, parents, and coaches from both teams learn and practice respect for one another? KJ and Terry are out to make a difference in the lives of children across the state of New Jersey and beyond through the sport of Rugby! Reach out to them if you are interested in bringing Rugby to your community!

Two Fit Crazies and a Microphone

Episode 106 - Kindra Hall - Professional Storyteller/Keynote Speaker/Mother & Wife/Author: Stories That Stick (Pre-Order your book at Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Indie Book, etc.…)

“I didn’t recognize storytelling as a talent; it was something I just did.”  “I have always kind of been the “Gonzo.” What am I?”  “...all these little things...moments in my life have value...significance… I can do this!  -Kindra Hall

In Episode 106, The Two Fit Crazies are captivated by the amazingly talented Kindra Hall. After Christine met Kindra and listened to her deliver an extremely poignant and inspirational keynote address to thousands of fitness professionals at the Orangetheory Fitness Summit in early 2019, she knew that Kindra was a diamond in the rough! Kindra, who is a professional storyteller, keynote speaker, author, mother, and wife, first made her storytelling debut in 5th grade when she began recounting the story of The Giant’s Big Toe in front of her fellow elementary school students.  Kindra then reveals her own “story” about how storytelling leads her to take part in the National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee, try out for the Concordia University, Wisconsin talent show, begin keynote speaking, and eventually write Stories That Stick! Kindra also discusses the process and the purpose of storytelling and how it can play an intricate part in successfully building, branding, and marketing any business or foster more meaningful relationships. Kindra admits that, like others, her road to  success has been paved with risk, faith and “straight-up hustle,” but by keeping an “audience forward” mindset, delivering a clear message, and accepting that you must  embrace trial and error, you will achieve your goals. Get your paper and pencils ready and let’s “flex your empathy muscles!” What is your story?

Former NYC Firefighter

The Long Run, Author

Motivational Speaker, WME Speakers

Orangetheory Fitness Danbury, CT Franchisee

ATHLETE-SURVIVOR- SPEAKER

“Why did it happen...and why did I live?”

“...Turn your burners on and fire-up the human spirit!”

-Matt Long

In Episode 99, the Two Fit Crazies are left speechless from the most amazingly inspirational story of one man’s battle for survival after being hit by a 40-ton bus on the streets of New York City at 5:30AM on December 22nd, 2005. With a 1% chance for survival even after receiving over 68 units of blood, Matt Long was not about to give up. As a NYC firefighter, triathlete, marathoner, and IRONMAN at the time of the accident, Matt discusses how his elite fitness level “literally” saved his life. Although Matt champions an “I WILL” attitude, he also shares what it was like to wish his mother had prayed for him to die instead of having to endure the slow and painful process of rehabilitating a body that was practically sliced in two. Unbelievably, Matt not only survived the day he and his bicycle were crushed beneath the 10” space between a charter bus and the asphalt, but also recalls the mental journey to recovery! After more than 40 operations and years of rehabilitation, Matt has since returned to the New York City Marathon, IRONMAN Lake Placid, cycling, and even holds 8 world records for the indoor rower! Matt also discuss his inspirational book, The Long Run, as well as his love for public speaking engagements and why he decided to be a franchisee for Orangetheory Fitness. Prepare to be inspired!

“...fitness is the stepping stone toward the other result.”  “...physical therapy...the end goal is to be an athlete again, not just rehab…”  -Dr. Sebastian Gonzales

In Episode 95 of Two Fit Crazies & a Microphone podcast, we had a blast talking with Dr. Sebastian Gonzales of Huntington Beach, California. Dr. Gonzales, an accomplished Sports Chiropractor and Human Movement Specialist, shares how his experiences rehabilitating childhood injuries lead him to re-evaluate the goals of physical therapy. Dr. Gonzales believes that we first need to examine why we believe we are injured or why we believe we “can’t” do something. Only then, we can begin to “unravel the yarn” and work towards standing and lasting results.  Dr. Gonzales also offers a unique perspective on the state of therapy and the way in which you should view rehabilitating injuries. Dr. Gonzales also gives out some awesome tips from his latest book, I Will Beat Back Pain as well as awesome advice from his podcast, RESTORING HUMAN MOVEMENT!
